Alberta Business Hall of Fame History
THE ALBERTA BUSINESS HALL OF FAME – est. 1980
In 1975, Junior Achievement of the United States launched The Business Hall of Fame concept to honor those individuals who have made outstanding contributions to free enterprise and to society. Junior Achievement of Canada quickly followed suit in 1979 by establishing the Canadian Business Hall of Fame and encouraging JA charters across the country to recognize leaders in their regions. Today, there are 2 national and no less than 75 regional JA Business Hall of Fame events in states and provinces coast to coast across North America. Click here to watch all our inspiring video from last year's incredible event on Junior Achievement’s Youtube Channel. In 1980, the Junior Achievement Alberta Business Hall of Fame was unveiled to identify and honor the lifetime achievements of Alberta's most outstanding individuals who have helped shape our province through their business success, entrepreneurial spirit and philanthropic contributions serving as role models for society. With only 54 Alberta men and women and having the mark of distinction of being named as a laureate, the Junior Achievement Alberta Business Hall of Fame stands as one of Alberta’s highest leadership honors.
JA created this signature event to help better understand and learn from the great Alberta leadership legacies that have been developed and nurtured over time. Capturing and illuminating the lessons of the past will undoubtedly assist us in better preparing leaders for tomorrow.
Nominated by their peers, inductees are chosen by an independent selection committee of previous years inductees chaired by Mr. Lyle Best, 2006 Inductee and Chair of the JA Board of Governors. Our new inductees are honored each spring at the Junior Achievement Alberta Business Hall of Fame gala event.
