Across
the globe, JA Worldwide™ reaches more than 7 million students in over
100 countries. And, much like our affiliate programs all over the world, here
in Edmonton we
use an age-appropriate curriculum that begins at the elementary
school level to teach children how they can impact the world around them
as individuals, workers and consumers. Our programs continue through the
middle and high school grades, preparing students for future economic and
workforce issues they'll face.

Is Junior Achievement In
Your Community?
What
is Junior Achievement?
Junior
Achievement is part of an international not-for-profit organization dedicated
to partnering the business and education communities. JA offers cost free,
curriculum enhancing programs delivered by trained and inspiring volunteers who
share their practical experience to equip students with the necessary skills to
enter tomorrow’s workforce and to face their futures with confidence. When you
volunteer with JA, you are part of a team... 170,000 strong. Now THATS impact! JA Worldwide (Junior
Achievement) is the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating young
people about business, economics, and free enterprise.
Why
volunteer for Junior Achievement in the Classroom?
Junior
Achievement provides you an opportunity to enrich the lives of students´
learning experiences with programs that are aligned with the learning outcomes
identified by Alberta Learning. JA programs and events offered through the
schools instill an understanding and appreciation of the benefits of successful
enterprise, enhance personal growth and achievement, and create an awareness of
the relationship between business and social responsibility. With teachers as
partners, JA can reach every available student with relevant, contemporary and
responsive programming.
Junior
Achievement's unique delivery system provides the training, materials, and
support necessary to bolster the chances for student success. We help arrange
for business people just like you and local community leaders to visit a
classroom a few times or throughout the semester. Volunteers share their
workforce experience with students, all while teaching
sound economic principles and reinforcing the class curricula. Throughout JA's
sequential and integrated grade 3 through grade 12 programs, students use information,
apply basic skills, think critically, and solve complex problems. JA provides
volunteers with extensive training and support, ensuring that every JA
experience is both positive and impactful.
Qualified volunteers just like you, in partnership with educators, enter the
classroom to teach Junior Achievement programs. In the process of delivering
these programs, they help to shape the future career paths of students. JA
volunteers act as positive role models and mentors by sharing personal knowledge
and experience.
