Job Shadow Day
Held annually on February 2nd, Job Shadow Day (JSD) offers students a unique opportunity to visit a professional work environment and gain insight into how to find and keep a fulfilling career. The event is proudly sponsored by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta.
Students participating in JSD have already been involved with our Company Program for at least one year in order to qualify. Students must apply and specify what they have an interest in before they are paired with a host from their preferred field. JA Northern Alberta & NWT tries in earnest to pair students and hosts accordingly.
Job Shadow Day is the kick-off for JA Company Program, where students in grades 9-12 run their own company. Over the course of 18 weeks, these young entrepreneurs will create a business plan and product, produce and sell the product, and liquidate at the end. Each student company will face its own challenges and will identify where they feel their product is fulfilling a niche within the market.
Hosting a student can be a wonderful experience for both the company and the host. To find out more about being a host for Job Shadow Day, contact Keith Pudwill, Director of Programs.
For students looking to participate in Job Shadow Day, contact Morgan Zinck, High School Programs Manager.
