Investment Opportunities

Ways to Invest

We look forward to exploring a customized partnership that best meets your community investment goals. With your support, we can set students on a path to financial responsibility and develop the next generation of entrepreneurs and leaders.

The work we do would not be possible without the support from the community. We need your help in the following areas:

Programs

As Canada’s fourth largest Junior Achievement chapter in Canada, Junior Achievement of Northern Alberta and NWT delivers age-appropriate practical learning to schools in 36 communities throughout Northern Alberta. Junior Achievement brings together students and corporate volunteers for classroom sessions covering topics ranging from marketing to budgeting.

Junior Achievement of Northern Alberta & NWT offers 11 in-school educational programs, ranging from single-day or weekly sessions as well as the Company Program that spans several months. Each program has the opportunity for corporate sponsorship.

Company Program

The Junior Achievement Company Program inspires high school students to understand the role of business in our society by creating an enterprise of their own. By collaborating with professional volunteer consultants to design, organize and operate a real business, students experience how a small enterprise functions.

While having the highest impact, the 18-week JA Company Program remains the highest cost per student program to deliver and would not be possible without the support of our community partners. The program includes tradeshows, various events, scholarships, and the opportunity for students to participate in international competitions, all adding to the cost of delivery. Sponsorship opportunities include program sponsor, tradeshow sponsor, and/or scholarship sponsor.

Job Shadow Day

Taking place early February each year, Job Shadow Day introduces students to the workplace and the career opportunities available to them. The Junior Achievement Job Shadow experience inspires students to be entrepreneurial in their approach to work by introducing them to innovative and creative solutions in the workplace.

Students from the Junior Achievement Company Program are matched with a leader from our city providing them with a comprehensive Job Shadow experience that demonstrates the connection between academics and careers. The day concludes with a celebration at City Hall, where students and their mentors meet to celebrate the commencement of the JA Company Program. As Job Shadow Day Sponsor, your organization will receive recognition throughout the day.

Financial Literacy Week

Held the last week of April, Junior Achievement of Northern AB & NWT is proud to provide the Dollars with Sense (DWS) and Economics for Success (EFS) full day programs to approximately 2,000 junior high students at NAIT’s JR Shaw School of Business every year. As Financial Literacy Week continues to grow, we continue to look for partners to sponsor this unique experience for our students.

Adopt-a-School

In order to meet the growing demand of our programs in elementary and junior high, leaders from the business community have partnered with various schools in the region. The JA Adopt A School initiative links individuals and corporate sponsors (and their employees) to schools requesting JA programs. Our goal is to create closer ties between the business community, school community and Junior Achievement.
